YAMAHA UPGRADED THEIR MIDRANGE OUTBOARDS

July 29, 2021

Yamaha Marine is updating its 250- and 300-hp outboards to include features from its 425 XTO engine.  The new-gen F250 and F300 Offshore outboards will be offered with built-in or bolt-on Digital Electric Steering.  In addition to smoother operation, Yamaha said, Digital Electric Steering eliminates the need for steering pumps, hoses, hydraulic lines and other connections. Also, the system only draws amps when the wheel is turned.

With Thrust Enhancing Reverse Exhaust, the engine’s underwater exhaust is routed above the ventilation plate at rpm levels lower than 2,500, so the prop has better bite in undisturbed water. Both engines have new cowling designs and are available in shaft lengths of 25, 30 and 35 inches. The new V-6 Offshore engines became available in February. Yamaha also announced new Saltwater Series II propellers.

The new releases follow Yamaha’s CommandBlue philosophy of giving boaters more confidence on the water, such as the Helm Master EX joystick control for single engines, according to Yamaha Marine U.S. president Ben Speciale. “Yamaha brings new levels of convenience and control to a proven performer,” “The introduction of these outboards … DES for Helm Master EX and Saltwater Series II HP propellers allows Yamaha to start the year with new, innovative products that meet customer demand.”
