The fully integrated hardtop and windshield are engineered to support an optional factory built tower with combination cushioned seating/leaning post. The tower option comes complete with a fiberglass top and console with controls and matching Yamaha command link plus gauges.

The 385 combines the performance, seaworthiness and fishability of the world’s top inboard convertible and express offerings with the luxury interior appointments of most comfortable cruisers. Dependable Yamaha outboards on the transom not only increase her overall performance but also open up valuable space for additional storage and accommodations. Its sleek, express style with a 13-foot beam results in an expansive cockpit and roomy interior below decks.

Structural and sound deadening insulation materials matched to proprietary stringer and assembly processes result in one of the quietest cabin environments in the market.Every inch of this boat exudes yacht caliber fit and finish, from its beefy grab rails, to its bow thruster, to its Corian®-countered gourmet kitchen — complete with a two-burner glass stovetop, microwave, 7.5 cubic-foot stainless steel refrigerator/freezer and fiberglass sink with hot and cold pressurized water.

If you’ve been yearning for outstanding performance and yacht class design, without the constant maintenance and expense, the OS 385 is the answer to your dreams. Below decks, light-colored interior woods, exquisite fabrics and strategically located ports make the interior spacious, stylish and inviting. Forward of the galley, the convertible dinette seats you and your guests for a comfortable dinner at the custom lacquered wood table. Amidships you’ll find a double berth that can accommodate two adults, complete with a convenient settee with sitting headroom and reading lights. The head features a separate standalone shower compartment finished in a frosted smoked green acrylic.

Pursuit OS 385 Offshore Review

Bass-boat acceleration gives the ?express? in this sport-fisher real meaning.

By Randy Vance, Updated: April 20, 2012

If I could have only one more boat in this lifetime, it just might be the new OS 385 Offshore. Why? Because it has the acceleration of a bass boat, an easy outboard-maintenance regime, plus the fishability and onboard comfort to accommodate long-range cruising and fishing.

Performance
On the coastal waters of Florida?s east coast, I braced myself for the first acceleration test. I leaned into the inertia I expected from the short movement of the Yamaha Command Link digital throttles and triple F350 outboards, and it still me pushed back. I caught myself with a backward step, regained my footing and jotted 4.6 seconds to planing speed, 5.9 seconds to 30 miles per hour. Go-fast boats don?t step up like that. This was a nearly 10-ton fishing-and-cruising machine with the agility of a runabout.

At 30 miles per hour, I spun the helm into a hard turn to port and held it there, forming a 180 within the narrow banks of the Intracoastal Waterway. I fed in throttle and it came around even sweeter.

Outside the inlet, the seas rose six feet and came in close together, forming a backbreaking network that the test boat sloughed off at 18 to 20 mph. Not one crackle from the hull, groan from the cabinetry below or rattle behind the helm distracted me from piloting these confusing seas.

The boat could have taken it at 40 mph or even its top speed of 54 mph. But I knew as a prudent captain I should take these seas with an easy, loping speed that let us enjoy the ride, sipping from bottled water.

Fishing
This sort of toughness and performance pairs well with all of the hard-core fishing features I found on board. You can take this rig far offshore or deep into the Bahamian out islands, and have a range of 300 miles on a 370-gallon fuel supply.

Gunwale height is just right for bringing fish aboard. Tuck your toes under the rod-locker doors (one each, port and starboard) to give added security to your footing.

If you boat the fish, don?t worry about the ice supply. A huge freezer locker on the transom and another on the mezzanine keep your catch fresh until you return to home port. Pursuit added a weather-resistant tackle station with Plano-box holders, and three drawers under a bait basin and sink.

A generous 50-gallon lighted baitwell to starboard on the transom means you'll have enough freebies to make a bite instead of wait for one.

Design and Construction
The hardtop fastens to the sturdy, lightweight, stylish, infused-fiberglass windscreen. Also noteworthy, steps to the hardtop are standard, showing that Pursuit planned ahead for the captain who'd want a bridge.

Comfort doesn't compromise fishability in the OS 385. Twin lounges hidden in the transom provide an enjoyable ride to the fishing grounds before you battle your prey.

Maintenance is made easy by careful design. The console panel unsnaps and hinges aft, giving unfettered access to the electronics and instruments. In the cockpit, solid hatches on double-duty hinges lift away to reveal easy access to all seacocks, fuel/water separators and the low-carbon-monoxide diesel genset, a feature that leads to worry-free and comfortably air-conditioned sleep, should you equip with AC.

Belowdecks the main salon is also easy to keep. A fiberglass headliner and wood-soled fiberglass cabin is sturdy and easy to clean. The Corian counter had a gold-dust and sandstone look that sparkled deeply. Hidden mood lights glowed through the Corian. Even the head was warmly finished with a wood sole and sported a separate shower with a frosted-glass door. Throughout the cabin, courtesy LEDs softly lit the way.

The standard salon option includes a convertible V-berth that doubles as a dinette area and features a closet near the aft berth. The optional configuration offers a more open plan by moving the V-berth forward, and arranging it beam-to-beam rather than fore and aft. The starboard galley is forward of amidships, and the dinette lies to port.

I want my last boat to come with rugged, long-lasting good looks. Pursuit seems to agree with me.

Pursuit OS 385: This Beast is a Beauty

Triple outboard power for an offshore boat pushing 40 feet LOA? Pursuit Boats does it well.
By Lenny Rudow, June 25, 2012

Many boatbuilders have cut back on the size and opulence of their offerings during the economic downturn, but not Pursuit Boats – just look to their OS 385 for evidence. This is one of the biggest beauties you’ll find in the world of outboard powerboats, and like many of Pursuit’s new offerings, such as the DC 265, it sets the bar for its class.

The Pursuit OS 385 is a beefy offshore boat with speed to spare.

The OS 385 is a monster for an outboard boat, with 18,985 pounds of displacement, nearly 40 feet of LOA, and 1,050 horsepower hanging on the transom. Can an outboard boat this big really perform like a champ? You bet—firewall the throttles and the OS 385 shoots up to an eye-opening 54.1-mph. Set a cruise at 4500 RPM, and it coasts along at 39.3 mph. Think you can find an inboard express that delivers these kinds of speeds? Good luck.

Despite its massive footprint, the OS 385 maintains the graceful looks of smaller siblings like the OS 235, while delivering the multi-purpose talents of its center-console cousins, like the ST 310. Of course, with this much room to work with, the 385 offers just about everything these other Pursuits can cover, plus a whole lot more—like a cabin decked with khaya and maple, a full galley, a convertible dinette, a mid-cabin double berth, and a fully enclosed head with a separate shower.

The plan view of the OS 385 shows plenty of room in the cockpit for fishing, and plenty of comfort belowdecks.

Or consider the cockpit, which houses all the goodies you expect from a purebred battlewagon. There’s a 50-gallon livewell, a pair of fishboxes with well over 100 gallons of total capacity, an insulated and refrigerated transom fishbox with a digitally-controlled thermostat, a raw water washdown, and aluminum reinforcement plates for a fighting chair and gunwale downrigger mounts. If you’re a hard-core angler you’ll add the optional 18-foot Rupp riggers, and if you’re a mellow cruiser you’ll instead add the forward deck lounge with cushions and grabrails.Pursuit OS 385 specifications

The bottom line: This boat wraps everything any Pursuit has to offer into one big, beautiful beast. If you’re into cutbacks and downsizing, obviously, it isn’t going to be your next ride. But if you want the largest, most luxurious outboard-powered boat in the marina, the OS 385 is right up your alley.
