Manufacturer Provided Description

The Intrepid 366 is an example of this firm's ability to innovate. Intrepids are not mass produced and each one is water-tested before delivery. This means it's ready to go, from custom engine installations to high-tech radar arches to glossy urethane finishes. All upholstery is done in-house, so fit and finish are guaranteed. Electrical systems feature tinned wiring. No matter what material is used to build a boat, the end result starts and finishes with the molds. Each Intrepid spends the first week of its life in a well-maintained mold to assure consistency and precision. Design and construction mean everything when it comes to performance. Each Intrepid features a transverse step in the hull. A step, or cutaway, in the boat's running area reduces the amount of wetted surface as the boat moves through the water. The step allows air to slip under the chine, giving the hull a natural lift with specific points to run on. Bow rise is minimal and all propeller thrust directs toward moving the boat ahead. The step lets the boat get on plane because there is less friction holding it back. Another benefit is that the "break" beneath the hull sends clean water to propellers, providing a better bite for instant throttle response. This explains why Intrepids plane faster at slower speeds, which means better fuel efficiency, and depending upon the boat load and power package, are more likely to plane on one engine - if necessary. To maximize performance and sea-keeping ability, the step must be matched to the hull shape. Intrepid uses a 22-and-a-half-degree transom deadrise to keep enough of the running surface in contact with the water at all times. In rough seas, an Intrepid glides across the tops of the waves, providing a dry ride. The shape of an Intrepid is matched by its wood-free, hightech construction. Hand-laid knitted uni and multi-directional fiberglass laminates provide the most strength pound for pound, and the resin-to-cloth ratio is made accurate thanks to vacuum bagging. Hullsides, transom, decks, liners, and stringers are foam-cored to increase stiffness while shedding unnecessary weight. Major components like the hull, liner, and bulkheads are chemically bonded to fuse each piece into a solid mass. That's why Intrepids won't squeak when anyone walks on deck and won't squawk when they're taken offshore.
